U Cywila in Dziwnów is not a fry shack at the beach access. It's a tavern in Hotel Armada, at Dziwna 13J — a place for a slower meal, when you want fish with conversation, not a paper tray.
The Cywiński family has run a fish fry in Niechorze since 1990. They opened the tavern in Dziwnów in 2017 so the same idea — fish with knowledge, not from a random wholesaler — would work off-season too. The official site says it straight: international cooking, fish and seafood, and for anyone who doesn't want fish — meat, veg and vegan. The walls carry sgraffito by Artur Wyszecki; the interior is maritime, not “chain”.
Fish, not fast food
Guests write about the passion of the owner, Krzysztof Cywiński: he sits down, talks, suggests a species. Reviews mention cuttlefish, carbonella, halibut, Antarctic toothfish, turbot, monkfish, burbot, cod and pike-perch. Someone described the evening order: soup, then a fish platter, starters at the end. Others come back for guitar nights — often the host plays himself.
This is more expensive than a regular fish fry. Nobody here promises lunch for a bar-counter twenty. You pay for the species, the plating, and the fact that someone actually knows what's on the plate. If you only want fried cod and chips, Gruba Ryba or Keja will be closer to that rhythm. You come here when you want to sit down.
Practical
A reservation makes sense, especially in the evening and in season: +48 725 100 333. There's a garden, wine, options for kids, dogs are welcome. One listing puts opening from midday to evening, but coastal schedules move — check by phone or on Armada before you leave.
Family site: ucywila.com. If you fancy fish “even from Kraków” — as Jerzy Trela is said to have put it — this is the address.
