Niechorze Lighthouse stands on the cliff above the beach at ul. Polna 30. The brick tower is 45 m tall and has guided ships since 1 December 1866. From the viewing terrace you look out over the Baltic, Lake Liwia Łuża and the coast towards Rewal.
What you'll see
- The viewing terrace at about 36 m, reached by more than 200 winding stone steps.
- A working lighthouse: its light carries about 20 nautical miles (roughly 37 km).
- The lantern room with the optics, destroyed by a shell in 1945 and rebuilt from the original documentation in 1948.
- A listed monument: the lighthouse complex has been on the heritage register since 1997.
- For collectors: passports for the "Bliza" badge, in which you can have your visits to other lighthouses confirmed.
When to come
It is open all year – longest in July and August, shortest from November to February. Thousands of visitors come in summer; mornings tend to be calmer. Pick a clear day for the view. Entry is paid, and the only way up is the stairs.
Right nearby: the Butterfly House (about 70 m), the Wax Museum (about 120 m) and Park Miniatur Latarni Morskich, a park of lighthouse models at ul. Ludna 16 (about 250 m) – each a separate, paid attraction.
